Pregame hype

5 p.m. -- I really hoped to avoid a case of "the Sundays" today--you know that sad feeling that the weekend is over and the realization that it's time to prepare for Monday. So I made sure to clear the decks for the Super Bowl. I've already done the ironing, laundry and cooked dinner so all I have to do now is watch this game.

5:05 -- I'm going to have a field day with Phil Simms calling this one. You could play a drinking game with his statements of the obvious. I just did a shot.

5:10 -- Is there any doubt that everyone outside of Indianapolis is pulling for the Saints today? Already, you can hear the Joe Robbie Stadium crowd cheering for them and booing the Colts.

5:15 -- What is with this Feb. 7 date for the Super Bowl? We already had a November World Series. Sports seasons are getting longer and longer. Next week is the NBA All-Star Game and the week after that is the Daytona 500. Fans just don't get a breather anymore.

5:21 -- Our american crow roost just took off for some reason.

5:22 -- Saints coach Sean Payton looks like a slightly aged Luke Skywalker.

5:23 -- What if Carrie Underwood "fixed" the anthem and bet it would last longer than 1 minute, 30 seconds or whatever. Couldn't she become really rich?

5:26 -- Three crows are back.

5:26 -- I know that it's not Joe Robbie Stadium but "Sunlife" Stadium or something. Silly.

5:27 -- How appropriate that Saints great Rickey Jackson is entering the Hall of Fame and is being introduced right now.
